PLM система Teamcenter от UGS интегрирована в программы Microsoft

UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced the release of a full PLM solution built on the Microsoft platform.  Teamcenter and NX provide product knowledge management, collaboration and digital product development solutions that are seamlessly integrated with Windows Server System and Office System.

Separately, UGS also announced the availability of Teamcenter support for SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3 Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition on Windows Server 2003.  In addition, Microsoft today announced the Program for Collaborative Product Development (CPD), a go-to-market initiative to partner with market leaders to deliver Microsoft technology to a segment of the PLM market.  UGS further extends the Program for CPD by adding support for product data management (PDM,) customer needs management (CNM) and direct materials sourcing (DMS.)

PLM is an enterprise business strategy through which organizations digitally manage their products from concept to retirement.  According to Daratech, the global market for PLM software and services is expected to grow by a compound annual growth rate of eighth percent through 2007 to more than US$9.2 billion.  Daratech expects the product data management and collaboration segment of the PLM market, which UGS leads on the strength of its Teamcenter portfolio, to grow 16 percent, compounded annually, through 2007.

“By working with Microsoft and building on our technologies, UGS continues to deliver PLM solutions that meet the demands of our joint customers,” said Don Richardson, director, Manufacturing Industry Unit at Microsoft.  “The PLM domain expertise and industry knowledge of UGS combined with Microsoft’s collaboration and development tools, allow us to deliver solutions that help customers realize a lower total cost of ownership while maximizing their existing technology investments.”

UGS and Microsoft plan to jointly pursue sales opportunities where the goal is to increase awareness and demand for PLM solutions.  The two companies will communicate the joint value proposition of UGS solutions built on the Microsoft technology platform.

“Microsoft-based solutions empower our customers to implement PLM rapidly at a reduced cost-of-ownership.  We expect our Microsoft-based R&D strategy to pay dividends in terms of expanded market opportunities and increased customer satisfaction,” said Jim Milton, executive vice president, Global Sales Operations, UGS. “We’re pleased that Microsoft has chosen to partner with UGS to deliver our industry-leading solutions to the market.”

The two companies launched the market-facing thrust of the program today at the Product Development Management Association (PDMA) annual, international conference in Chicago, where both UGS and Microsoft are sponsors and exhibitors.  Ongoing go-to-market activities will include executive and regional seminars, webinars and other joint marketing communications targeted at the two companies’ mutual customers.
